Robert Bailey
Interview by Johanne Foster

Robert Bailey on the fieldRobert Bailey came to the United States from Barbados with his mother, brothers, and sister in search of the “American dream” in 1978. Unfamiliar with American football, Robert first became enamored with the sport  when he saw the Dallas Cowboys play as a child. (Sorry Miami Dolphin fans.) At thirteen years old Robert played on his first city league team in Miami, FL and never turned back. Twenty-three years later, Robert proudly sports two national championship rings from the University of Miami football team, one Super Bowl ring from the Dallas Cowboys (1996), and one Super Bowl ring from the Baltimore Ravens (2001).

In 1987 Robert entered the University of Miami with the intent to leave with a degree and enter medical school. The 1991 draft would change all of those plans. Over the years UM has built a strong reputation for identifying and molding talented football players. During his time at UM and on the football team, the school won two national championships. The Dallas Cowboys believed that Robert was one of Miami’s exceptional talents. The doors to the NFL opened for Robert when the Dallas Cowboys drafted him in 1991. Bajan (Flag of Barbados)

An eleven year career in the NFL punctuated by two Super Bowl rings and the longest punt return in NFL history (still unbroken) came to an end with a neck injury against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day 2001. Undeterred by this setback, a new phase in Robert’s professional life began in January 2002 when KCB Sports Marketing was born in Aventura, FL. Having always been an entrepreneur, Robert put together a new team that would bring together talented athletes with star power and lucrative corporations hungry Robert Bailey (far right) with Nat Moore and others to use this star power. He uses his connections within the NFL to assist corporations create a public image around popular athletes, and he wields his influence in the corporate world to help athletes gain financially off the field from their accomplishments on the field.

Whether he is wearing the hat of athlete, entrepreneur, brother, son , or father, Robert still finds time to give back "Bling, Bling" to the community that has given so much to him. Robert Bailey recently hosted the 5th Annual Robert Bailey Celebrity Golf Tournament. The tournament supports CHI Clinics of South Florida that provide healthcare to families with insufficient insurance coverage. He donates much of his spare time working with rival and ex-gang members and as an inner-city youth basketball coach with the “Stay In School” program. He is a celebrity spokesman for the “You Can Achieve Your Dreams if You Work Hard Enough” campaign. .

In ten years he believes KCB Sports Marketing will be on the top of the marketing world but hopes for things much more simpler: a happy future for his son and continue a good life as a God-fearing human being.
