Grenada Flag E-mail

Flag of GrenadaGrenada gained independence from the United Kingdom on February 7, 1974 and adopted its flag on this day.

The Grenada flag has six stars on the red border that symbolize the country's six parishes. The middle star encircled by a red disk, stands for the capital of Saint George's. The symbol in the hoist represents a clove of nutmeg, one of the principal crops of Grenada. The Grenada flag was designed by Anthony C. George of Soubise in Saint Andrew Parish.

The red, gold, and green represents the country's African identity. Red stands for courage and vitality, yellow for wisdom and warmth, and green for vegetation and agriculture.
