|Trinidad Tobago Flag|
The Trinidad and Tobago flag was adopted on independence in 1962. Like many flags from the islands, the red and black Trinidad and Tobago flag was inspired by designs received from the public.
The black represents the strength and dedication of the people as well as the wealth of the land. The red stands for the vitality and friendliness of the people and the warmth of the sun. The thin white stripes stand for the purity of aspirations and the equality of all men under the sun.
