The blue field represents the sky, the sea, peace, and hope. One of the narrow stripes suggests the flow of tourism to sun-drenched Aruba; the other stripe is a symbol of minerals and industry (gold , phosphates, petroleum). Besides the sun, gold, and abundance, yellow is also said to represent the wanglo flower - national flower of Aruba. |

The Aruba flag was adopted on March 18, 1976. The colors contain a field of light blue, two narrow parallel horizontal yellow stripes in the bottom half, and a four pointed red star in the upper left corner. The star represents the island itself - a land of red soil bordered by white beaches in a blue sea. There are also four main languages of Aruba: Papiamento, Spanish, English, and Dutch.
