Dominica Carnival Print E-mail

The first Dominica Carnival was in 1838, although others would suggest that the tradition dates back much further than this. Some people think it dates back thousands of years to some of the imperial cults established by the Romans.

The Dominica Carnival slowly developed over the years and expanded with masks and costumes to match. Song, music and instruments all took their place in the line up too and this brings us to the modern age. The Dominica Carnival now consists of song, dance, music and also beauty pageants. It is now a well established event with an organising body and now occurs each year.
