Each year the Virgin Islands Carnival Committee, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, organizes the annual Virgin Islands Carnival celebration to take place the last week of April each year on the island of St. Thomas. Each year Virgin Islanders display the rich culture through their music, art, dance, and imaginative costumes. As the Virgin Islands' biggest tourist attraction the event has both a great cultural and economic impact on the island. The Virgin Islands Carnival week long scheduled of events include something for everyone from steel pan competitions to soca, calypso, kompa, and zouk concert events to a kiddie carnival. With a large Hispanic population in the Virgin Islands, the events also include an event feature Latin artists. Still, Jouvert remains the crowning jewel of the week's events. Thousands of revelers descend upon Veterans Drive to experience the excitement of one of the largest street parties in the Caribbean. Not to be left out, food vendors are on hand to showcasing the unique cuisine of the Virgin Islands. The main attraction for Jouvert is the various bands parading down Veteran Drive playing their roadmarch tunes towards the Carnival Village. Each band boasts its own followers dressed usually in crazy and sometimes in revealing outfits and costumes dancing to the energetic sounds. One last thing!
